Anna E. Cook, 79
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Anna E. Cook, 79, of 45 Spring St., Spring Street Apartments, died Wednesday afternoon, July 25, 2001, at Mount Greylock Extended Care Facility in Pittsfield.
Born in North Adams on Dec. 22, 1921, daughter of Herbert and Eva Marie Chalifoux Blake, she attended North Adams schools, including the former Archer School in the Blackinton section. She also took home economics courses in North Adams.
A homemaker, Mrs. Cook was employed for several years at the former Sprague Electric Co. in her younger years.
She was a singer for several local bands in the area and sang on local radio programs. She also sang at several celebrations at the former Loyal Order of the Moose Hall. She was a former member of the North Adams Women of the Moose Club. She enjoyed dancing.
Her husband, Alfred R. Cook, whom she married in 1938, in Maryland, died in 1954.
She leaves two daughters, Barbara A. Harris and Gail J. Arnold, both of Cheshire; two sons, Richard E. Cook of Adams and James A. Cook of Fort Collins, Colo.; a brother, Herbert Blake of North Adams; six sisters, Carol Harris and Doris Haley, both of Pownal, Vt., Florence Courtot of North Adams, Lena Nolli of Pittsfield, Shirley Jones of Bennington, Vt., and Judith Columbus of North Pownal, Vt.; nine grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by two grandsons, Craig A. Voghel and Robert M. Voghel, and two sisters and a brother, Cecilia Blake, Eva Pratt and Donald Blake.
FUNERAL NOTICE/b> — Services for Mrs. Cook will take place Monday afternoon at 1 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will follow in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
