Sara M. Geist-Sirk, 36
ADAMS, Mass. — Sara Marie Geist-Sirk, 36, of 508 Commons Drive, Evans, Ga., formerly of Adams, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 2007, at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
Born in North Adams on Nov. 5, 1970, daughter of Joseph Geist of Adams and the late Karen Walsh Geist, she attended Adams schools and graduated from Hoosac Valley High School in 1988. She was a 1992 graduate of Westfield State College and received her master's degree in family studies from Michigan State University in 1996. She had lived in Michigan and Maine until moving to Georgia in 2005.
Mrs. Geist-Sirk worked in various administrative positions for the Girl Scouts of America until her death.
She had been a member of the Girl Scouts since childhood and had received her 20-year pin, as well as the scouts' highest honor, the Gold Award.
Besides her husband, Steven Sirk, and her father, she leaves a son, Ian Sirk, and her paternal grandmother, Myrtle Geist of Williamstown, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A memorial service for Ms. Geist-Sirk, will be held Sunday at 1 p.m. at PACIOREK FUNERAL HOME, 13 Hoosac St., Adams. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown, on Monday at a time to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Girl Scouts of America through the funeral home.
