Frank W. James Jr.
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Frank W. James Jr., 87, of 227 Franklin St., Apt. 6A, Franklin Court, formerly of 25 Sunset Drive, Williamstown, died Tuesday< June 12, 2007, at North Adams Commons.
Born in Birmingham, England, on Jan. 19, 1920, son of Frank W. and Eva Fisher James, he emigrated to the United States at the age of 3 and settled in North Adams with his family. He attended schools there.
An Air Forces veteran of World War II, he served as a staff sergeant, and received many campaign medals.
Mr. James was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 43 years, retiring in 1983.
He was an active member of St. John's Episcopal Church and a member of the Friendship Club at the Harper Center, both in Williamstown.
He and his wife, the former Kathleen Lesure, celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary March 14. They were married in St. Francis' Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a grandson, Jamison Jacobs and his wife, Abigail, of Belmont and two great-grandchildren, Kennady and Liberty Jacobs.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Leslie James Jacobs, and by three brothers, Leslie, Frederick and Raymond James.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. James will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at St. John's Episcopal Church in Williamstown by the Rev. Peter Elvin, rector.
Burial with military honors will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery, Williamstown. Calling hours at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPEL, 521 West Main St., North Adams, will be today from 3 to 6 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for the St. John's Church Building Fund through the funeral home.
