Ernest G. Rondeau, 85

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Ernest George Rondeau, 85, of 85 Eagle St., died Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at North Adams Commons. Born in North Adams on Nov. 17, 1921, son of Oliver F. and Leonie Rougeau Rondeau, he lived in the Greylock section of the city before moving to Stamford, Vt., where he attended school. Mr. Rondeau was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1985. Before that, he was employed by Tanner's Dairy Farm and the Strong-Hewat Woolen Mill in Clarksburg. Following his retirement, he worked part time at several logging and sawmill operations in Stamford until 1995. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of the Sprague Quarter Century Club and the Sprague Retirees. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a fan of the New York Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals. He and his wife, the former Barbara Jane Fortini, were married Jan. 17, 1953, in St. Anthony's Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Gail Antoinette Rondeau; four sisters, Cecile Pratt of Stamford, Vt., Doris Roberts of Bellingham, Theresa Dix and Rachel Tatro, both of Clarksburg; two brothers, Wilfred G. Rondeau of Readsboro, Vt., and Daniel Rondeau of Stamford; a his granddaughter, Nicole Denis LaBonte Renaud and Steven Haskins; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Madison Renaud and Tyler John Haskins; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and his friend, Jack Hebert. Six brothers, Oliver, Francis "Pete," Felix, Thomas, Joseph and Roger Rondeau, and a sister, Olive Rondeau, are deceased. FUNERAL NOTICE — The service to celebrate the life of Mr. Rondeau will be held tomorrow evening at 7 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, conducted by the Rev. Bruce Ziter. Calling hours are tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice, care of the funeral home.
