Giulio G. Brondoni, 83
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Giulio Gino Brondoni, 83, of 189 State St., a resident of North Adams for 71 years, died Monday morning, Jan. 9, 2006, at home.
Born in Voghera, province of Pavia, Italy, on Aug. 5, 1922, son of Enrico and Teresa Castino Brondoni, he attended schools there until emigrating in November 1934 to the United States, where he completed his education in the North Adams School System.
An Army veteran of World War II, he entered the service in November 1942, serving with the 87th Mountain Infantry Regiment. He fought in the battles of the Po Valley, the North Apennines and the Aleutians and received several campaign medals.
Mr. Brondoni worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. for more than 30 years, retiring in 1987. Before the outbreak of World War II, he worked at the former Gale Shoe Co. and was a trackman for the Boston & Maine Railroad.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of Dr. George Curran Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 996, the Sprague Retirees Club and the 10th Mountain Ski Division.
He and his wife, the former Viola Marie Letalien, were married Sept. 13, 1947, in Notre Dame Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Edward Joseph Brondoni, at home, and Anthony Ralph Brondoni of Palmetto, Fla., and several cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Brondoni will be Thursday Jan. 12, at 8:15 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals CENTRAL CHAPELS 74 Marshall St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Anthony's Church.
Burial will be in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.
