Edna M. Burdick, 86

FLORIDA, Mass. - Edna M. Burdick, 86, of 17 Tilda Hill Road died Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2004, at North Adams Regional Hospital after being stricken earlier in the day at home. Born in North Adams on Jan. 30, 1918, daughter of Archer A. and Jessie Latimer Jones, she attended schools in North Adams. Mrs. Burdick was employed by the former Signet-Better Homes Club Plan Inc., a mail-order business in Adams, until retiring. She also had worked at the former Sprague Electric Co. and the former Wall-Streeter Shoe Co., both in North Adams, and at the former Thompson Manufacturing Co. in Bennington, Vt. She and her husband, Robert Albert Burdick Sr., also operated the former Dairy Top on the Mohawk Trail. She was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of the PTA at the elementary school. She was a longtime member of the Florida Volunteer Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary. She also worked at the polls and as a census taker for the town. Her husband, whom she married Aug. 14, 1943, died Dec. 12, 1980. She leaves a daughter, Linda Trudeau of Florida; two sons, Robert A. Burdick Jr. of North Adams and David W. Burdick of Florida; two sisters, Lilla Dickinson of North Adams and Mildred E. Tatro of Clarksburg; a brother, Archer Jones Jr. of the state of Florida; six grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandchild. FUNERAL NOTICE - Services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Burdick will be conducted Friday at 9 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. North Adams, by the Rev. Roy Burdick, pastor of First Baptist Church of Florida. Burial will follow in Church Cemetery, Florida. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested to the Florida Volunteer Fire Department through the funeral home.
