Mary A. Knapp, 86
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mary Annietta "Mabel" Carrier Knapp, 86, of 45 Spring St. died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 19, 2004, at North Adams Regional Hospital.
Born in Adams on Oct. 9, 1918, daughter of Arthur and Genevieve Boyer Dupras, she attended schools there. She resided for many years at 4 West Pine St. in Adams.
A homemaker since the late 1960s, Mrs. Knapp was last employed by the former England Brothers Department Store in Pittsfield for several years.
She also had worked at the former Adams Super Market, as a waitress for many years at the former Florini's Restaurant, and at the former Mohawk Chief Supermarket, all in North Adams.
She was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas and a member of its Ladies of St. Anne Society She also was a member of the Marian Helpers Association of Stockbridge.
Her first husband, Wilfred J. Carrier, died April 18, 1975.
Her husband, George F. Knapp, whom she married Oct. 14, 1977, died May 19, 2003.
She leaves four sons, Wilfred J. Carrier Jr. of Palmyra, Va., Donald H. Carrier of Eaton, N.Y., Robert Knapp of Simi Valley, Calif., and William Knapp of Adams; a daughter, Rita D. DeMarco of North Adams; three sisters, Helen George of Mechanicville, N.Y., Dorothy Racette of North Adams and Jeannette Soha of Adams, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter Jean M. Brown; her great-grandson Mark A. Brown; seven brothers, Adelard "T Boy" Dupras, Wilfred Dupras, Francis Dupras, Ernest Dupras, Peter Dupras, Theodore Dupras and Donald Dupras, and two sisters, Beatrice Belanger and Rose Marie Haskell.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Knapp will be Saturday, Oct. 23, at 11:30 from TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 12:30 in Notre Dame Church by the Rev. Bonaventure Moccia, CP.
Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Notre Dame Renovation Fund through the funeral home, 6 Summer St., Adams.
