Rosario T. Cantoni Jr., 74

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Rosario Thomas Cantoni Jr., 74, of 981 Mohawk Trail, a former longtime resident of 1049 North Hoosac Road, Williamstown, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at home. Born in North Adams on May 21, 1930, son of Rosario Cantoni Sr. and Rose Frances Benincasa Cantoni, he attended schools in North Adams. A veteran of the Korean War, he served with the Army as a private first class. He received several medals for his service. Mr. Cantoni was employed for many years by the former General Cable Co. in Williamstown and also as a bus driver for the former J.T. Bus Lines. He was first employed by the former Greylock Mills. He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and of St. Patrick's Church in Williamstown. He was a member of Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW, Northern Berkshire Retired Men's Club and the Greylock Community Club. He enjoyed bowling and playing golf and spending time with his family. He and his wife, the former Mary Elizabeth Maxwell, were married Sept. 8, 1956, in Clarksburg. Besides his wife of 47 years, he leaves five sons, Richard Cantoni, Rosario Cantoni III and Gary Dow, all of North Adams, John Dow of Pittsfield and Robert Dow of Adams; a brother, John Michael Cantoni of North Adams; eight grandchildren, Kyle Cantoni, April Cantoni, Mindy Dow, Geralyn Dow, Christina Dow, Barbara Desroches, Christopher Dow and Ashleigh Dow, and four great-grandchildren, Izaha and Savanna Stubbs, Cole and Alexis Desroches. He was predeceased by a sister, Claire Graham. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Cantoni will take place Monday at 9:45 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, North Adams. Burial will follow with military honors in the family plot in Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 4 to 8. Memorial donations are suggested for the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association through the funeral home.
