Loriana Estes, 84

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Loriana "Lori" Estes, 84, of 88 Langlois St. died yesterday at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield, where she was admitted on Thursday, April 29, following a brief illness.

Born in Adams on May 5, 1920, daughter of Simon and Agnes Dubois LaMarre, she was educated in Adams schools, including the former Notre Dame School and the former Adams High School.

She was primarily a homemaker. In her younger years, she was employed as a librarian for a short time.

Mrs Estes loved music, particularly singing, gardening, painting and crafts, including sewing and ceramics.

She was a longtime member of White Oaks Congregational Church, where she sang in the choir and prepared Communion. She was secretary of the Mary and Martha Society, assistant editor of the church newsletter and was a member of the flower committee.

She volunteered with the church social committee and for church suppers. She also was a past deacon and past historian, past member of the prudential committee, past secretary of the church committee, past member of the outreach committee and search committee and past Sunday school teacher.

Her husband, Loren Charles Estes, whom she married on May 26, 1937, died on March 15, 1983.

Mrs. Estes is survived by one son, Loren C. Estes Jr. and his wife, Jane, of Dover, N.H.; four daughters, Faith Cropper and her husband, Charles, of East Walpole, N.H., and Shirley Mullen and her husband, George, Gayle Gliwski and her her husband, Daniel, and Rosemarie Gyurasz (a member of the North Adams Transcript advertising department) and her husband, James, all of North Adams; two sisters, Agnes Bressett and Rita Lively, both of Williamstown; 12 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Estes was predeceased by a grandson, Scott Michael Gliwski, on July 18, 1988; five sisters, Odessa LaMarre, Rose Reeves, Corinne Bush, Marie Kruszyna and Sister Laura LaMarre, and three brothers, Simon LaMarre, Alfred LaMarre and Howard LaMarre.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Estes will take place Wednesday, May 12, at 1 at White Oaks Congregational Church of Williamstown.

Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, are Tuesday, May 11, from 6 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the White Oaks Congregational Church of Williamstown through the funeral home.
