Dorothy B. Breda, 74

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Dorothy B. Breda, 74, of 134 Harris St. died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at North Adams Regional Hospital, where she had been admitted Sunday. Born in North Adams on Feb. 8, 1929, daughter of Ella Kleiner of Las Vegas and the late Paul Armando Genesi, she attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School in 1946. She also took courses in computer technology. Mrs. Breda worked in the North Adams city clerk's office until her retirement in 1990. Prior to that, she had worked part time at the former Sprague Electric Co. and Excelsior Printing & Processing on Roberts Drive. She moved to Chicago for a while in 1949, then returned to North Adams in 1951. Her first employer was the former H.W. Clark Biscuit Co. on Ashland Street. While her children were growing up, she was a homemaker. She was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony's Church, where she served on the Bazaar Committee and was a religious education instructor for the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine program. She was also a member of the former Twin Club. She bowled with teams in the candlepin bowling leagues, and enjoyed crafts, including doll-making, wedding cake decorating, stained-glass projects and cross-stitching. Her greatest joy was her family of children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren gathering around her at the Breda family reunions. She and her husband, Genesio A. Breda, retired commissioner of public services for the city of North Adams, were married May 28, 1949, in St. Anthony's Church. Besides her mother and her husband, she leaves eight daughters, Marlene R. Haas of Lanesborough, Jean Breda Noyes of Bath, Maine, Barbara E. DeGrenier of North Adams, Lynne M. Breda of Pinellas Park, Fla., Donna L. Carter and Debra L. DeMarsico, both of Pittsfield, Janice C. Di Stefano of Glastonbury, Conn., and Nancy E. Vittone of Spring Hill, Fla.; two brothers, Paul Genesi of North Adams and Robert Genesi of Las Vegas; 15 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Marlene Rose Genesi on on Oct. 6, 1935. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Breda will take place Monday, Aug. 25, at 9:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St. It will be followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Anthony's Church. Burial will take place in the family plot in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home are Sunday from 3 to 7. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory through the funeral home.
