Leonard E. Cote, 44
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Leonard Edward "Lenny" Cote, 44, of 70 Chase Ave. died Wednesday evening at home.
Born in Ardmore, Okla., on Aug. 17, 1957, son of Edward and Joyce Burdick Cote of the town of Florida, he attended schools in the town of Florida and was a 1976 graduate of Drury High School.
He joined the Army in 1982 and served in Germany, South Korea and the United States. He was decorated with several ribbons and medals.
At the time of his death, Mr. Cote was employed with Massachusetts Laborers Union Local 473 at several construction companies in the area. He was first employed at the former Berkshire Tannery in North Adams for several years and then worked for the Potvin Lumber Yard in Stamford, Vt.
He was a member of First Bible Baptist Church. He enjoyed music and played the guitar and mandolin. He was also an avid reader.
Besides his parents, he leaves two sons, Leonard V. Cote and James Edward Cote, both of Pownal, Vt.; a sister, Debra Sarkis of Rutherfordton, N.C.; five brothers, Kenneth Cote and Donald Rene Cote, both of North Adams, Russell Cote of Adams, and James Cote and Lawrence Cote, both of the town of Florida; and a granddaughter.
He was predeceased by a brother, Timothy Harold Cote.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Services for Mr. Cote will take place Monday at 2 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, with the Rev. Eric Malachuk, pastor of the First Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot in Church Cemetery, Florida.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday from 4 to 7. Memorial donations are suggested for the Leonard Cote Memorial Fund through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
