Chester F. Grande, 83

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Chester Francis Grande, 83, of 55 Brooklyn St. died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2OOO, in the emergency room of North Adams Regional Hospital after being stricken earlier at his home. Born in North Adams Mass on Sept. 10, 1917, a son of Charles and Carolina Gigliotti Grande, he was educated in city schools, including Drury High School. Mr. Grande was employed as a textile printer with Arnold Print Works in Adams, retiring in 1981 from its successor, the former Adams Print Works, with more than 47 years of service. He was building and grounds supervisor for the Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion in North Adams at the time of his death. He was a lifelong communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church and a former member of the North Adams Lodge Sons of Italy, the Textile Printers Union, the North Adams Beagle Club, the Northern Berkshire Retired Men's Club and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks. He maintained a lifelong interest in hunting, fishing and mushrooming. He also enjoyed studying and following trains and assembling model trains. He and his wife, the former Domenica "Minnie" Catrambone, were married on June 8, 1940, in St Anthony of Padua Church. Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Patricia Denault of Clarksburg; two sons, Chester Anthony Grande of Adams and Charles Peter Grande of North Adams; four grandchildren, Lynn Praxel of Milwaukee, Traci Grande and Michael Grande, both of North Adams, and Ryan A. Denault of Clarksburg, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. His brother, Peter Paul Grande, died on Dec. 17, 1984. FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mr. Grande will take place Wednesday, Dec. 6, at 9:30 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by at Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 70 Marshall St., North Adams with the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the family plot at Southview Cemetary, North Adams. Calling hours wil be Tuesday, Dec. 5, from 3 to 7 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals-Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory are suggested for the St. Anthony Building Fund through the funeral home.
