Martha Gaudreau, 47

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Martha Alice "Marty" Gaudreau, 47, of 93 Cleveland Ave. died Saturday, March 30, 2002, at home following a long illness. Mrs. Gaudreau was the inspiration for Marty's T-Ball League of Clarksburg, Florida, North Adams and Stamford, Vt., founded by her former husband, John C. Gaudreau, in 1989. Born in North Adams on Feb. 11, 1955, daughter of David E. and Ellison Lawrence Finney, she attended elementary school in Stamford and graduated in 1973 from Drury High School. She attended the University of Vermont and graduated in 1984 from the former North Adams State College, where she earned a bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, in early childhood education. Mrs. Gaudreau was a home day-care provider and was employed by the Williamstown Head Start program. Following an illness in 1985 and another 1987, she was a volunteer at North Adams Regional Hospital. She was a member of Stamford Community Church. She was also a member of the Drury High School class of 1973 Sunshine Club. She enjoyed hiking, traveling, visiting the ocean and teaching children. Besides her parents, of Stamford, she leaves two sons, Ryley Charles Gaudreau and Seth David Gaudreau, both of North Adams; and two brothers, Nathan L. Finney of Stamford and Alden E. Finney of Whitingham, Vt. FUNERAL NOTICE - Memorial services for Mrs. Gaudreau will take place Thursday, April 4, at Stamford Community Church, Main Road, with the Rev. William R. Wilson, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Millard Cemetery, Stamford, later in the spring. Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 3, from 4 to 7 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to Marty's T-Ball, Stamford Community Church or to VNA & Hospice of Northern Berkshire through the funeral home.
