Robert J. DeRose, 73

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Robert Joseph DeRose, 73, of Jefferson, Ohio, and formerly of North Adams, died Sunday, March 6, 2016, at Ashtabula County Medical Center in Ashtabula, Ohio.

Born in Newton on Feb. 27, 1943, son of Joseph and Helen Scott DeRose, he attended North Adams schools.

An Army veteran, he served in Korea.

Mr. DeRose was employed at the former General Electric Co. in Pittsfield and Pfizer in Adams, until moving to Ashtabula. There, he worked as a heavy equipment operator in the oil pipeline business until he became disabled.  He returned to North Adams in 1988.  

He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. He was devoted to his family and especially enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and great-granddaughter.

He leaves his wife, the former Tammy Yun, whom he married on March 26, 1964; two daughters, Helen Gardner of the town of Florida and Joanne DeRose of North Adams; a son, Robert A. DeRose of Geneva, Ohio; a sister, Joanne Carpenter of Adams; two granddaughters, Candice Larko and Cassandra Larko, both of North Adams; a  great-granddaughter, Sariah Larko of North Adams, and nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Joan DeRose in infancy, and two sisters and two brothers, Dolores DeRose, Shirley Hebert, Wayne DeRose and Charles DeRose.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. DeRose will be Friday, March 11, at 11 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.  

Calling hours will be Thursday, March 10, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: CDC Dialysis Center, Attn: Kathy, 222 East Beech St., Jefferson, Ohio 44047 or in care of the funeral home.

We were so saddened to read of Bobbys passing this morning. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Tammy and all of his children, and sister JoAnne and the rest of the family. Bobby was a good friend and I'll
remember him always.

My condolences to the family. It has been along time since I have seen Bob but I remember our years together when Bob worked at Pfizer.He was a great guy and a great friend especially to my dad. So sorry and god bless.
