Leslie D. Tenney Jr., 83
ADAMS, Mass. — Leslie Delos Tenney Jr., 83, of Derby, Conn., formerly of Adams, died peacefully on Friday, May 15, 2015, at Connecticut Hospice.
Born in North Adams on April 16, 1932, the son of Leslie Delos Tenney Sr. and the Rev. Ethel Lombard Tenney, he graduated from the former Adams Memorial High School.
An Air Force veteran, he enlisted in 1955 and took advanced training in accounting at a Milwaukee air base and was stationed for a time in France.
Mr. Tenney was employed by the New Haven (Conn.) Register for more than 20 years.
A longtime resident of Derby, he was a Little League coach and an avid fan of the Red Sox and of the University of Connecticut basketball team. He could often be found playing cards with his family and drinking Pepsi. He was an active member of Calvary Alliance Church in Milford, Conn.
He and his wife, the former Evangelyn Gordon, were married Oct. 21, 1955.
Besides his beloved wife of 59 years, he leaves two sons, Leslie D. "Tyke" Tenney III and his wife, Cindy, of Forest, Va., and Richard T. Tenney and his wife, Bobbie, of Tallahassee, Fla.; a daughter, Laurie Mizelle and her husband, Oral, of Ashburn, Va.; a sister, Evelyn Bellows of the state of Washington, and seven grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sister, the Rev. Lois D. Wilson, and a brother, Lawrence Tenney.
