Edith M. Trombley Carey, 92
CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Edith May Trombley Carey, 92, of Middle Road, formerly of Pownal, Vt., died Saturday evening, Oct. 25, 2008, at North Adams Commons, where she had resided for several weeks.
Born in Mechanicville, N.Y., on July 4, 1916, daughter of Alexander and Ethel Ostrander Rose Lewis, she received her education in Bennington, Vt., schools. She moved to Clarksburg 34 years ago.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Carey was a former member of the Bennington Moose Club. She was a doll collector, and enjoyed watching game shows. In earlier years, she was an avid dancer and enjoyed doing embroidery and sewing.
Her husband, Arthur Trombley, is deceased.
She leaves a daughter, Rose Moffitt and her husband, Raymond, of Shaftsbury, Vt.; a sister, Harriett Lewis Hyndman, with whom she resided, 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three children, Arthur Trombley Jr., Josephine Sprague and Barbara Moon; five brothers, Joseph Rose, Harold Rose, Gordon Rose, Clarence Lewis and Kenneth Lewis, and a sister, Virginia Lewis, who died in childhood.
