Irene I. Larese, 92
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Irene Isabel Larese, 92, of 4 Grimes St. died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at Williamstown Commons.Born in Adams on July 1, 1917, daughter of Lawrence and Maria Wojciek Pikul, she attended Adams Schools.
Mrs. Larese was last employed by the former North Adams State College, now Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, for 20 years until her retirement in 1986.
She attended the former St. Francis of Assisi Church and St. John's Episcopal Church. A devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was truly the heart of her family.
Her husband, Angelo John Larese, whom she married July 27, 1940, died on March 3, 1997.
She leaves a son, John A. Larese of North Adams; a sister, Gertrude Amuso of Pittsfield; five grandchildren, Sandra Kolis of Adams, Michelle Larese of Syracuse, N.Y., Angela Hakkinen and her husband, Travis, of Adams, Amanda Stred and her husband, Mark, of Northbridge, and Timothy Larese and his wife, Sue, of Spring Hill, Fla., three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Louis L. Larese, in 1985, and four grothers and three sisters, Elizabeth Sharkey, Pauline Doyle, Suzanne Gagnon and Joseph Pikul, Stanley Wojieck, Peter Pikul and Frank Pikul.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' The funeral for Mrs. Larese will be Thursday, Dec. 24, at 11 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, Dec. 23, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the Eleanor Sonsini Animal Shelter, 63 Downing Industrial Park, Pittsfield, MA 01201.
