Eleanor Cutler, 80
CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Eleanor "MiMi" Cutler, 80, of 417 North Houghton St. died Thursday, Dec. 16, 2009, at North Adams Commons, surrounded by her family.Born in North Adams on Jan. 19, 1929, a daughter of Henry and Ora Saillant Chalifoux, she attended school in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School in 1947.
An Air Force veteran, she served as an airman, first class, with the special activities squadron at the Pentagon. After her marriage, she returned to North Adams to raise her family.
Mrs. Cutler was last employed at the Big Y Supermarket as a demonstrator. She had previously worked at the former James Hunter Machine Co. and Harry Smith Ford Dealership, and for the city of North Adams in the Water Department. She also typed term papers and legal papers for local families.
She was a loving and devoting mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She was known for her intelligence, her great knowledge on many issues and her humorous manner. She also was an accomplished cook.
Her husband, Raymond Lewis Cutler Jr., whom she married May 31, 1952, in Washington, D.C., died Oct. 6, 2006.
She leaves a daughter, Gayle Batchelder and her husband, Frank, of Clarksburg; two sons, Kevin Cutler of Berwick, Maine, and Christopher Cutler and his fiancée, Theresa Gladu, of Adams; a sister, Claire Rone of Braintree; a brother, Henry "Buster" Chalifoux of Bennington, Vt.; three grandchildren, Kristin Rondeau and her husband, Joseph, Amy Smith and her husband, Jeremy, and Karli Rae Cutler, and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a brother and two sisters, Leonard "Buster" Chalifoux, Arlene Jeffers and Dorothy McHatten.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services will take place Monday, Dec. 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. Burial with military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 11:30 to 1:30. Memorial donations are suggested for the North Adams Veterans of Foreign Wars or the Shriner's Children Hospital through the funeral home.
