Carol V. Vallieres, 75

November 16, 2009

CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Carol Viola Vallieres, 75, of 178 Middle Road died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Williamstown Commons.

Born in North Adams on Dec. 11, 1933, daughter of Albert and Viola Foisey Norman, she attended North Adams and Williamstown schools and graduated from Drury High School in 1951.

Mrs. Vallieres was employed by Community Development Corp. for three years until her retirement. Before that, she worked at Little's Pharmacy for a short time and Sprague Electric Co. for many years.

She was a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church and was a member of its choir, rosary procession, and Parish Council. She taught CCD there and assisted at bingo. She enjoyed dancing and was one of the founders of the Hairpin Turners Square Dance Club. She also enjoyed gardening, knitting, and reading.

Her husband, Raymond H. Vallieres Sr., whom she married Oct. 13, 1951, died Jan. 18, 2006.

She leaves three daughters, Deborah Calnan and Dianne Bolognani, both of Readsboro, Vt., and Rebecca King of the town of Florida; two sons, Raymond H. Vallieres Jr. and Richard Vallieres, both of North Adams; two brothers, John Norman of North Adams and Albert Norman, both of Clarksburg; a stepsister, Jeannette Arlene O'Neil of North Adams; 13 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Another son, Christopher Vallieres, died in infancy and another brother, Roy Norman, is deceased.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Vallieres will be Wednesday, Nov. 18, at 9:15 a.m. from Flynn & Dagnoli Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Clarksburg Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for Catholic Relief Services in care of the funeral home.
