Ruth H. Rhoades, 68

SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Ruth H. Rhoades, 68, of Alum Hill Road, Ashley Falls, died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009, at Bristol (Conn.) Hospital, after a short illness.

Born on Dec. 2, 1941, daughter of Joseph and Helen Biercz Drolett, she lived most of her life in the Canaan, Conn., and Ashley Falls, moving to the village in 1971 to raise her family.

A homemaker, Mrs. Rhoades loved spending time with her family and tending to her flower gardens.

She and her husband, Walter H. Rhoades, were married June 26, 1971.

Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, David Curtiss of Beverly Hills, Fla., and Jeffrey Curtiss of Stubenville, Ohio; three daughters, Ronda Forfa of Falls Village, Conn., Lisa Whitener of Murphy, N.C., and Diana Campochiaro of Bristol; a sister, Linda Care of New Marlborough, and many grandchildren, including Samantha, who lived with her grandparents.

She was predeceased by another sister, Barbara Ford.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A funeral service celebrating the life of Mrs. Rhoades will be conducted on Monday, Nov. 16, at 1 from Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home by the Rev. Brian Care. Burial will be private.

The family will receive friends on Monday from noon until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Ruth Rhoades Memorial Fund through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
