Mammography Dispute The government's issued controversial new guidelines stating that women shouldn't get annual mammograms until age 50, rather than age 40.

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Georgianna May Fortini, 95, of 19 Danforth St., Hoosick Falls, N.Y., a former longtime resident of North Adams, died Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at the Danforth Adult Care Center in Hoosick Falls.
Born in Rome, N.Y., on Aug. 23, 1914, daughter of Jacob and Mary Schriefer Hildenbrandt, she attended schools there and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1933. She resided in California for some years until moving to North Adams.
Mrs. Fortini was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. until retiring in 1979. She had first worked at the former Rome Manufacturing Co. and Revere Copper Co. in New York.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church. She and her husband, John Edward Fortini, spent winters in Fort Pierce, Fla., and summers at their camp on Cassayuna Lake in New York State. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, and swimming, bingo, playing cards, and trips to Saratoga Race Track.
Her husband, whom she married Nov. 10, 1945, died on Dec. 19, 1996.
She leaves four sons, Gordon Charles Hildenbrandt of Rome, John E. Fortini Jr. and his wife, Barbara, of Hoosick, N.Y., Duane G. Fortini and his wife, Connie, of Sandown, N.H., and Shawn D. Fortini and his wife, Gloria, of Fort Pierce; 15 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews
She was predeceased by her siblings Clarence Hildenbrandt, Edward Hildenbrandt and Marie Wood.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Fortini will be held Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Friday morning from 9:30 until the funeral. Memorial donations are suggested for St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church in care of the funeral home.
