Beatrice H. Gottardi, 100

CHESHIRE, Mass. &mdahs; Beatrice Helen Gottardi, 100, of 27 Richmond St. died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, at Providence Care of Lenox.

Born in Valley Falls, N.Y. on May 30, 1909, daughter of Peter C. and Leah Guenette Letourneau, she was a child when her family moved to Readsboro, Vt., where she attended the former Readsboro High School.

Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Gottardi worked part time as a telephone operator with the former Western New England Telephone.

She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a communicant of St. Mary of the Assumption Church. While in Readsboro, she was a communicant of St. Joachim's Church and a member of its Children of Mary. She enjoyed gardening and arranging flowers.

Her husband, John Victor Gottardi, whom she married July 6, 1936, in Readsboro, died Oct. 18, 1997.

She leaves a daughter, Nancy Zappula and her husband, Thomas, of Cheshire; two sons, Richard Gottardi and his wife, Sheila, of Parsippany, N.J., and Brian Gottardi and his wife, Janice, of Balch Springs, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, her daughter-in-law Alice Gottardi of Shelburne Falls and nieces and nephews.

A son, John C. Gottardi, died Oct. 12, 2001. She also was predeceased by five brothers and four sisters, Pauline Bombardier, Florence Radisson, Josephine Letourneau and Leah Loiselle, and Charles, Joseph, Edward, William and Roger Letourneau.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Gottardi will be Friday, Oct. 23, at 9 from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Cheshire. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery in Readsboro, Vt.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Thursday from 4 to 7. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Church or the Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of the funeral home.
