Cesare A. Balardini, 89
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Cesare A. Balardini, 89, of 10 Crosier Ave. died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 2009, at home.Born in Italy on Nov. 27, 1919, a son of Lorenzo and Elizabetta Bianchi Balardini, he attended schools in there. He came to the United States in 1955.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Italian army.
Mr. Balardini was employed as a crane operator for 25 years in the former Jones Division of Beloit Corp., retiring in 1986. Prior to that, he was employed at the Highland Restaurant and at Petricca Construction Co.
He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his loving family.
He and his wife, the former Cesarina Delmolino, where married Nov. 17, 1938, in Italy.
Besides his wife of 70 years, he leaves a son, Luciano Balardini and his wife, Diane, of Pittsfield; three daughters, Dalia Podavini and her husband, Brono, and Gina Casino and her husband, Frank, all of Pittsfield and Rosa Gross and her husband, Michael, of Windsor; 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild, several nieces and nephews and his special friends Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Carchedi and Kathryn Tassone.
He was predeceased by a brother and four sisters, Angelo Balardini, Lizette Podavini, Rosa Betolatti, Ida Pozzoni and Delina Sondrini.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services will take place Thursday at 10 from Flynn & Dagnoli- Bencivenga Funeral Home, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling Hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested for Sacred Heart Church through the funeral home.
