Robert A. Harrington, 77
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Robert A. "Bobby" Harrington, 77, of Las Vegas, a native of North Adams, died in Las Vegas on Thursday, April 23, 2009, with his daughters by his side.Born Sept. 5, 1931, son of Cornelius F. and Florence M. Decoteau Harrington, he attended local schools and graduated in 1950 from the former St. Joseph's High School, where he played on the baseball and basketball teams. He had resided in Nevada for 53 years.
An Army veteran, he was inducted into the service in 1953 and was stationed in Germany.
Mr. Harrington was a casino executive in the gaming industry in Nevada for 40 years, working in several major casinos including the Sahara, Golden Nugget, Tropicana, Frontier, Dunes, Hilton and Landmark.
He enjoyed golfing and was an avid sports enthusiast.
He leaves three daughters, Lynn Pennacchia and her husband, Emilio, of Schenectady, N.Y., and Jacque Lowrie and her husband, Greg, and Kitty Wyman, all of Las Vegas, and a brother, Cornelius F. Harrington Jr.
He was predeceased by another brother, William R. Harrington.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A memorial service for Mr. Harrington was held in Las Vegas. Graveside services will be held in Southview Cemetery in North Adams on Friday, Oct. 16. Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, is in charge of arrangements.
