Henry F. Lescarbeau, 84

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Henry F. Lescarbeau, 84, of 76 Cherry St. died peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, June 6, 2009, at Glens Falls (N.Y.) Hospital.

Born in Clarksburg on Feb. 27, 1925, son of Henry J. and Clara Keating Lescarbeau, he attended North Adams schools. He later graduated from the Academy of Advanced Traffic in New York City.

He was a Marine veteran of World War II.

Mr. Lescarbeau had a long career in transportation, working as a terminal manager for Eastern Freight Ways and as director of distribution at Stevens & Thompson Paper Mill in Greenwich, N.Y. He later worked as traffic manager for Powmat in Clifton Park, N.Y.

He was a communicant of the former Our Lady of Mercy Church. He was a member of American Legion Post 125, VFW Post 996 and AmVets Post 100. His greatest enjoyment in life was the seeing the achievements of his children and grandchildren.

His wife, the former Kathryn Innes, is deceased.

He leaves four daughters, Kathryn Norris of San Francisco, Michele Russo and her husband, Richard, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y., Jacqueline Sommer and her husband, Charles, of Warrensburg, N.Y., and Bridget Player and her husband, Wayne, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; two sons, Arthur Lescarbeau and his wife, Janice, of Syracuse, N.Y., and Christopher Lescarbeau and his wife, Ann Marie, of Mechanicville, N.Y.; three sisters, Clara Robert and Gloria Gaffney, both of the state of Florida, Cecelia Breen of Nassau, N.Y.; eight grandchildren, Jeffery, Rebecca, Jamie, Mark, Kelly, Lynn, John and Hannah, two great-grandchildren, Mikayla and Brendan, and nieces and nephews.

He was predeased by his longtime companion, Jeanne Sullivan, and siblings Alfred "Joe" Lescarbeau and Eva Mangano.

FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Henry Lescarbeau will be celebrated Wednesday June 10, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church. Burial will follow in Southview cemetery.

Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams will be Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30. Donations are suggested to American Legion Post 125 or Parkinson's Disease Foundation in care of the funeral home.
