Joseph F. Letalien, 80
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Joseph F. Letalien, 80, of 51 Biltmore Ave. died peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at home surrounded by family.Born in North Adams on July 31, 1928, son of Felix and Catherine Violette Letalien, he attended schools in North Adams.
Mr. Letalien was employed for 42 years as an operating engineer at Petricca Construction Co., retiring in 1993. He was a member of Local Union 98 Operating Engineers.
He enjoyed gardening and mowing his lawn. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather and loved spending time with his family
He and his wife, the former Barbara Girard, were married on Oc. 12, 1962.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Arthur M. Palmer Jr. and his fiancee, Thea Hotaling, of Waterford, N.Y., Steven G. Palmer and his wife, Diane, of Norfolk and Jeff D. Letalien and his wife, Lynn, of North Adams; two sisters, Viola Brondoni and Elaine Misiaszek; five grandchildren, Jeremy Palmer and his wife, Mary Katie Bryant-Palmer, David Letalien and his wife, Melissa, Christopher Letalien, Kinsey Palmer and Jed Palmer; four great-grandchildren, Olivia Palmer, Isaac Palmer, Michael Bryant and Mariah Letalien and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers and four sisters, Gilbert Letalien, James Letalien, Irene Luczynski, Mildred Walden, Ruth Vincelette and Marie Markey.
FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services for Mr. Letalien will take place Monday, May 18, at 1 at from Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours will be Sunday evening, May 17, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to the VNA and Hospice of Northern Berkshire in care of the funeral home, 521 West Main St., North Adams, MA 01247.
