Harold A. Lawson, 92
ADAMS, Mass. — Harold Allen Lawson, 92, of Adams, died Wednesday, March 11, 2009.Born in Adams on Jan. 8, 1917, son of Gilbert and Eva Alderman Lawson, he attended local schools. During the Depression, he worked in the state forest at Windsor Jambs for the Civil Conservation Corps.
Mr. Lawson was employed in the ordnance division at the former General Electric in Pittsfield as a toolmaker. He worked on Polaris and Trident projects and retired with more than 35 years of service.
Upon his retirement, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family and friends at his camp at Lake St. Catherine in Vermont. He liked to restore cars and tinker in his shop in the garage.
He leaves his wife of 58 years, the former Emma A. Landry; two daughters, Laurel Lawson of Chicago and Jean C. Lawson of Pittsfield; two brothers, George Lawson of Adams and Gordon Lawson of Milwaukee; three sisters, Elinor Caffrey, Claire Juif and Betty Szufnarowski, all of Adams; three grandchildren, Laura A. Delmolino and Matthew F. Lazarczyk, both of Adams, and Jessica L. Jankowski of Broadalbin, N.Y., and three great-grandchildren, Samuel L. Delmolino, Joseph D. Delmolino, and Zofia L. Jankowski.
He was predeceased by three brothers John Lawson, Gilbert Lawson Jr. and Francis "Jimmy" Lawson.
