George W. Goodsill, 73

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — George W. Goodsill, 73, of South Main Street died Friday evening, Nov. 19, 1999, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

Born in Torrington, Conn., on Aug. 29, 1926, son of George and Elizabeth Keefner Goodsill, he attended Dewey School and the former Searles High School.

A handyman, Mr. Goodsill retired after 15 years of working for Lawrence Barbieri. He had first worked with his father at the former G-Bar-S Ranch, now Ski Butternut, shoeing horses and later for the former Gilligan Brothers in Sheffield, Trinity Steel and Worthmore Feed Co. in Great Barrington.

He enjoyed fishing and built his own fishing boat.

He and his wife, the former Kathryn Dean, were married March 3, 1952, at First Congregational Church in Great Barrington.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Darnell Slater of Sandisfield; three sisters, Madeline Barbieri of Stockbridge, and Beatrice Thompson and Claude Humes, both of Clayton, and nieces, nephews and other family members.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Services will be conducted Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 11 a.m. from Finnerty & Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington by the Rev. Charles VanAusdall, pastor of First Congregational Church. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday, Nov. 22, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home.

Those who desire may make memorial contributions to the Great Barrington Senior Center through the funeral home, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
