Dolores M. O'Neil, 87

NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Dolores Madeline O'Neil, 87, of 59 Chestnut St. died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown.

Born in North Adams on June 28, 1921, daughter of John and Rose Sbarbaro Bianco, she attended schools in North Adams and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1939. She graduated in 1943 from the former St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in Pittsfield as a registered nurse.

Mrs. O'Neil was employed as a school nurse for North Adams Public Schools for 26 years, retiring in 1980. She also had worked at North Adams Regional Hospital and the former Plunkett Hospital in Adams, and did private-duty nursing in homes throughout the area.

She was a communicant of the former St. Anthony of Padua Church and of its Rosary Society. She was a member of the Massachusetts Associations of Registered Nurses and of School Nurses. She was a member of the Emblem Club and the Jollee Circle. She volunteered at the North Adams Visitors' Center and was a former member of the North Adams Country Club.

She leaves two sons, Michael Alan O'Neil and his wife, Stacey, of Pittsfield and Thomas Anthony O'Neil of Mechanicville, N.Y.; a brother, Dr. Norman V. Bianco of North Adams; two grandchildren, Michael James O'Neil, serving with the Navy in the Persian Gulf, and Ellen Marie O'Neil of Pittsfield, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews

She was predeceased six brothers and a sister, North Adams Mayor Joseph Bianco, Dr. Harvey Bianco, Philip Bianco, William Bianco, Ernest Bianco, Lionel Bianco and Rita Sharron.

FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. O'Neil will be celebrated Friday morning Jan. 16, at 9 at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church, formerly St. Anthony's Church. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams will be Friday morning from 8 to 8:30. Memorial donations may be made to St. Elizabeth's Church in care of the funeral home.
