Elizabeth Ferris, 91
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Elizabeth "Betty" Ferris, 91, of 95 Kemp Ave. died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown.Born in North Adams on April 13, 1916, daughter of Anthony and Martha Daou Solomon, she attended the former St. Joseph's High School until the death of her mother.
Mrs. Ferris was employed by the former Sprague Electic Co.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a former longtime communicant of St. Francis' Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality and the church bowling league.
She also was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas 296 Court Margaret and of the IUE retirement club. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and horse racing. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Her husband, Ferris Ferris, whom she married Sept. 4, 1939, at St. Francis' Church, died Aug. 1, 2004.
She leaves four daughters and sons-in-law, Anne and William Molloy and Gloria and James Floriani, all of North Adams, Faith and John Barcome of Holyoke and Martha and Butch Perry of Idaho; a son, Marshall Ferris and his wife, Glenda, of Savannah, Ga.; a sister, Mary Lena Solomon of Williamstown, 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Gondure Andrew Solomon, Hatem Joseph Solomon and John Tony "Sam" Solomon; by a sister, Evelyn "Emily" Solomon, and by a nephew, Shaffie Joseph Solomon.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Ferris will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church, North Adams. Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
Calling hours will be Monday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Memorial donations are suggested for the CW Wing at Sweet Brook Care Centers or to the charity of the donor's choice through the funeral home.
