Adolph J. Heideman Jr., 79
CLARKSBURG, Mass. — Adolph James Heideman Jr., 79, of 1260 Middle Road, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2007, at North Adams Commons.Born in North Adams on May 3, 1928, son of Adolph Heideman Sr. and Anna Thomann Heideman, he graduated from the former Freeman Elementary School and, in 1946, from Drury High School.
Mr. Heideman was employed for 26 years by the former Sprague Electric Co., where he specialized in pulse network design and development, and product engineering, retiring as head of the Detail Design Group in 1970. His work played a role in the design of pulse networks for many radar systems. During his career, he completed many courses in radio electronic circuits and machines as well as home-study courses in basic electronics, mechanics and mathematics with International Correspondence Schools of Scranton, Pa. After his retirement, he was involved in real estate management and investment.
He was a communicant of St. Francis' Church in North Adams and enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating and sledding.
He was a guitarist and soloist and was the founder of the Jimmy Heideman Orchestra, which he maintained for many years.
He and his wife, the former Jeannette Boucher, whom he married at the former Holy Family Church in North Adams, celebrated their 60th anniversary Aug. 9.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, James A. Heideman of North Adams; a daughter, Kathleen A. Viens of Pittsfield; two sisters, Frances Kurpiel and Evelyn Mendel and her husband, Lee, all of Naples, Fla.; a brother, Robert Heideman and his wife, Alice, of Clarksburg; six grandchildren, Hayley Dunham, Beth Pausé, Daniel Viens, and Brian, Kevin and Eric Heideman; four great-grandchildren, Aliyah Heideman, Dominick Pausé, and Cameron and Evan Dunham, and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Martin Heideman.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Heidemanwill be Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapel, 521 W. Main St., North Adams, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Francis' Church. Burial will follow in Clarksburg Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eileen Barrett Oncology Center at North Adams Regional Hospital in care of the funeral home.
