Ruth Ledlie, 91
SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Ruth Ledlie, 91, of Main Street died Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2007, at home.Born in Rockville Centre, N.Y., on July 29, 1916, daughter of George and Florence Wichern Combes, she graduated from South Side High School there and received her bachelor's degree from Skidmore College in 1937. She began spending summers in the Berkshires in 1927.
Mrs. Ledlie was a volunteer in many civic, religious and health care organizations. She was actively involved with the Girl Scouts for 37 years and earned the "Thanks" badge, which is the organization's highest award. She was a member of the board of trustees at Skidmore and a member of the Nassau Women's Club in Rockville Centre.
She and her husband, Robert D. Ledlie, would have celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary Oct. 26. They were married at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Rockville Centre, where they lived until making the Berkshires their permanent home in 2003.
Besides her husband, she leaves a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Susan Ledlie of Rockville Centre; four daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Jay Sims of Dana Point, Calif., Karen and Paul Crop of Virginia Beach, Va., Cynthia and Daniel Bush of Fort Collins, Colo., and Dianne and Kevin Agoglia of Merrick, N.Y.; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Ledlie will be Friday, Aug. 25, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church on Main Street in Sheffield. Burial will follow in Sheffield Center Cemetery.
