Mary E. Siciliano, 85
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Mary Eileen Siciliano, 85, of 3 Rickard St., died Tuesday, July 17, 2007, at her home.Born on Nov. 13, 1921, daughter of Walter F. Pringle Sr. and Elizabeth Fallon Pringle, she attended schools in North Adams and graduated from the former St. Joseph's High School in 1938. She received her registered nursing degree from St. Francis' Nursing School in Hartford, Conn., in 1940.
Mrs. Siciliano was a restaurateur and businesswoman. She and her late husband, Arthur Siciliano, purchased the former Four Acres Dairy Bar in Williamstown in 1946 and established the successful Four Acres Restaurant, which they sold in 1976.
In 1963, they built the former Four Acres Motel, which they sold in 1972. In 1985, they established the former La Veranda Restaurant in North Adams. They operated the business until 1993, when they retired and turned the business over to their grandson James M. Siciliano.
Mrs. Siciliano was a longtime member of the Taconic Golf Club in Williamstown, and enjoyed playing bridge.
Her husband, Arthur G. Siciliano, whom she married Mar. 6, 1945, died on June 25, 2002.
Besides her grandson, of Sarasota, Fla., she leaves her daughters Gayle Gillooly, Mary Field, Patti Siciliano and Theresa Siciliano, all of North Adams; a brother, Walter F. Pringle Jr. of North Adams, and many other grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A son, Arthur G. "Mickey" Siciliano Jr., died on June 5, 1968.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mrs. Siciliano will be on Friday at 8 a.m. from AUGE-SAN SOUCIE-SIMMONS FUNERAL HOME, 46 North Church St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Cemetery in Williamstown.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations may be made to the Eileen Barrett Foundation or VNA & Hospice of the Northern Berkshire, through the funeral home.
