Helen M. O'Neill, 84
PITTSFIELD, Mass. â€' Helen Mary O'Neill, 84, of 379 East St. died Saturday, June 2, 2007, at Williamstown Commons.Born in North Pownal, Vt., on April 8, 1923, daughter of Fritz and Marianne Wabnig Hannaleck, she attended North Adams schools, including Drury High School.
Mrs. O'Neill was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams for many years, retiring in 1985. Following her retirement, she worked as a housekeeper and nanny for two families in Williamstown.
She was a communicant of St. Francis' Church in North Adams.
She enjoyed traveling and music. She was a regular at Itam Lodge's Sunday night dances. She was a fiercely independent person.
She leaves a daughter, Carol Privitera and her husband, Mario, of Lenox; a son, Steven O'Neill and his wife, Deborah, of Queensbury, N.Y.; her longtime companion, Charles Coppolino of Pittsfield; four sisters, Florence Diodati and Doris Heyes, both of Williamstown, Lillian Schafer of Pittsfield and Dorothy Poplaski of Parump, Nev.; a brother, Clarence "Bud" Hannaleck of Largo, Fla., five grandchildren, Paul Privitera of Boston, Gina Privitera of Brookline, and Ryan, Kendall and Blair O'Neill, all of Queensbury, and nieces and nephews.
Two sisters and a brother are deceased: Ethel Roy, Freda Davis and Eric Hannaleck.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' The funeral for Mrs. O'Neill will be conducted Wednesday at 10:15 a.m. from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, WEST CHAPELS, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Francis' Church.
Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are tomorrow from 4 to 7 p.m. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association in care of the funeral home.
