Francis H. Peasley, 91

GREAT BARRINGTON, Mass. — Francis H. Peasley, 91, of Van Deusenville Road, Housatonic, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at Fairview Hospital.

Born in Falls Village, Conn., on Nov. 26, 1914, son of Glenford and Hazel Bump Peasley, he was educated in Connecticut and New York schools. He moved to Great Barrington in 1940.

Mr. Peasley was a truck driver for Home Gas in Housatonic for 35 years, retiring in 1980. From 1981 to 1987, he worked at Carr Hardware.

He was a member of First Congregational Church and of the Senior League at Cove Lanes, where he bowled at least twice a week until recently. He also enjoyed playing shuffleboard on Sundays at the former Macano Inn in Housatonic and was a fan of the Red Sox. He was a great family man and family historian.

His wife, the former Mary Collari, whom he married Feb. 1, 1943, died July 25, 1995.

He leaves two daughters, Linda Funk and her husband, Jeff, and Nancy Patterson and her husband, Rick, both of Housatonic; four sisters, Etta Ruane of Lee, Carol Rodriques and Virginia Decker, both of Newburgh, N.Y., and Dorothy Chase of The Woodlands, Texas, four grandchildren, Gregory, Janette, Scott and Lynn, and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Brady.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Chase and Barbara Elds.

FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Peasley will be Wednesday at 11 at First Congregational Church in Great Barrington. Visiting hours will be tomorrow, Oct. 10, from 4 to 7 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to benefit either Cerebral Palsy or the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind, in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
