Anthony Vigna, 85
ADAMS, Mass. — Anthony Vigna, 85, of 14 Haggerty St. died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center.Born in North Adams on Sept. 1, 1920, son of Frank and Carolina Gaglianese Vigna, he attended schools there.
Mr. Vigna was employed as a security guard at General Electric Co. in Pittsfield for 15 years, retiring in 1989. Earlier, he had worked for the former First National Stores at several locations and at the former Gale Shoe Co.
He was a communicant of St. Stanislaus' Church and enjoyed woodworking, carpentry and sketching.
He and his wife, the former Mary Dzierga, celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary Oct. 14.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Michael A. Vigna of Adams, Anthony G. Vigna and his wife, Debra, of Pittsfield and Dr. Paul A. Vigna and his wife, Judith, of Norwell; a daughter, Patricia M. LaFrance and her husband, Kerry, of Adams; two sisters, Mary Esposito and Roseanne Shakar, both of North Adams, and seven grandchildren, Anthony G. Vigna Jr. and Amanda, Thomas, Caroline and Luke Vigna, and Christopher and Sarah LaFrance, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by seven siblings, Rocco, Thomas, Louis, Joseph, Agostino, Rosa and Teresa Vigna.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Anthony Vigna will be Tuesday, Feb. 7, at 9 from AUGE-PACIOREK-SIMMONS Funeral Home, 13 Hoosac St., Adams, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church. Burial will follow in St. Stanislaus Kostka Cemetery, Adams.
