Madeline A. Boyer, 86
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. — Madeline Aleta Boyer, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2006, at Sweet Brook Care Centers, where she had resided for three years.Born in Williamstown on Dec. 3, 1919, daughter of Hermon and Jennie Phillips Odell, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Boyer was employed by the former Sprague Electric Co. in North Adams until 1971.
She enjoyed reading, bowling, needlework, and playing cards and bingo. She had a lively sense of humor, said her family, always enjoying a good laugh and was affectionately known to many as "Ma." Her biggest joy in life was her family.
Her husband, Bernard Francis Boyer, whom she married Sept. 21, 1936, in Hoosick, N.Y., died March 8, 2000.
She leaves three daughters, Joan A. Braman and her husband, Walter, of Williamstown, Claire Kristensen and her husband, Neils Kristensen Jr., of Lanesborough and Rosalie Richard and her husband, John, of Troy, N.Y.; a son, Francis H. Boyer and his wife, Margaret, of Bellbrook, Ohio; a brother, Chester Johnson of Pownal, Vt.; 15 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by four grandchildren, Richard Boyer, Rebecca Boyer Hobbs, Nick Kristensen and Tim Richard, two sisters, Anita Beebe and Jennie Hill, and two brothers, Walter Odell and Ernest Odell.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Mrs. Boyer entered eternal rest on Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2006, to be with her beloved husband, Bernard. A service to celebrate her life will be held tomorrow at 10 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, Central Chapels, conducted by the Rev. Joseph DeCosta, pastor of First Baptist Church of North Adams.
Burial will follow in the family plot in Eastlawn Cemetery. Calling hour is Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for St. Jude's Children's Hospital or for Sweet Brook Care Center Activities, through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
