Victoria H. Hitchcock, 61

SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Victoria H. Hitchcock, 61, of 1507 Home Road died Monday, April 4, 2005, at home after being stricken.

Born in Hartford, Conn., on Aug. 14, 1943, daughter of Angelo and Irene Kaminski Sanzo, she attended schools in Monson and graduated from Monson High School in 1961. She moved to Great Barrington in 1973.

Mrs. Hitchcock had last worked as a bartender for the 102 Tavern in South Lee. She also had been the manager in the Lower Lodge at Butternut Basin ski area and had worked at other businesses in South County.

She owned thoroughbred horses that competed and won at many local and national tracks, including Suffolk Downs, Rockingham and the Great Barrington and Northampton fairs.

She also enjoyed the beach and sitting by her pool.

She and her husband, Thomas H. Hitchcock, were married Oct. 5, 1984, in Sheffield.

Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Lea Persing of Austerlitz, N.Y., and Robin Neales of Sheffield; a brother, William Sanzo of the town of Florida; a sister, Dolores Adamowicz of Springfield; three grandchildren, Bethany and Justin Persing and Morgan Neales; two aunts, Helen Sejko and Gilda Cookish of Springfield; her brother-in-law Francis Hitchcock Jr. and his wife, Elizabeth Hitchcock; her mother-in-law, Ethel E. Hitchcock, and four nieces, Lyn and Carol Healey, Susan Gomez and Susan Crane, and three great-nephews, Tommy Clark Jr., and Nick and Alex Crane.

FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mrs. Hitchcock will be conducted Saturday, April 9, at 10 at BIRCHES-ROY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. John Lis, pastor of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Sheffield.

The family will receive friends Friday, April 8, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy in memory of Vicky may be made to Southern Berkshire Volunteer Ambulance Squad in care of the funeral home, 33 South St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
