Leonardo Alcaro Jr.
ADAMS, Mass. — Leonardo Alcaro Jr., 61, of 205 East Road died Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 12, 2004, at home, following a long illness.Born in North Adams on May 23, 1943, son of Leonardo and Elena Caterina Grande Alcaro of Adams, he attended schools there and the Mary Jeczyk Sunshine Camp in North Adams for 25 years.
He completed his Confraternity of Christian Doctrine courses with the nuns at the former St. Joseph's School in North Adams.
Mr. Alcaro was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church in North Adams. He enjoyed dancing and music, especially polkas.
He also enjoyed basketball, riding his bicycle and flying to Florida. He competed in the Special Olympics and received ribbons in the 50-yard dash and Frisbee.
Besides his parents, with whom he made his home, he leaves three brothers, Joseph A. Alcaro and his wife, Joanne, of Adams, Mario G. Alcaro and his wife, Teresa, of Williamstown and Vincent A. Alcaro of Hancock; three nieces and three nephews, Sharon Yapougian, Colleen Pete, Rebecca Alcaro, Joseph Alcaro, Gregory Alcaro and Andrew Alcaro, and aunts, uncles and cousins.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Services for Mr. Alcaro will be Friday, Oct. 15, at 12:45 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:30 at St. Anthony of Padua Church, celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are today, Thursday, from 4 to 8. Donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital or St. Anthony's Church in care of the funeral home.
