Hareptia Ball, 90
SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Hareptia Ball, 90, formerly of Clayton Road, Ashley Falls, died Sunday at Geer Nursing Facility in Canaan, Conn., where she had resided for two years.Born in Port Jefferson, N.Y., on Jan. 9, 1914, daughter of Stanley and Linnie Curtis Winters, she attended Mill River School after moving to the village of Clayton.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Ball was a member of Trinity Methodist Church, where she volunteered for various events.
She also was a member of Sheffield Grange and the Sheffield Senior Center and enjoyed sewing, knitting, needlepoint, reading, crossword puzzles and cooking.
Her husband, Robert E. Ball Sr., whom she married July 4, 1929, died Nov. 12, 1986.
She leaves a son, Stanley E. Ball and his wife, Karen, of Sheffield; two daughters, Eleanor O'Brien of the state of Florida and Jessie Malumphy of Lee, 23 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by four sons, Roger Ball, Phillip Ball, David Ball and Robert E. Ball Jr., and by a daughter, Bertha Ball.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A family funeral will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at 2 at Finnerty and Stevens Funeral Home in Great Barrington by the Rev. Betty LeGeyt, pastor Trinity Methodist Church.
Burial will follow in Ashley Falls Cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
