Florence E. Radisson, 102
CHESHIRE, Mass. — Florence Elizabeth Radisson, 102, of 27 Richmond St. died Saturday, April 17, 2004, at Providence Care Center of Lenox.Born in Readsboro, Vt., on Dec. 16, 1901, daughter of Peter C. and Leah Guenette Letourneau, she attended the former Readsboro High School. She resided on School Street for many years before moving to Cheshire five years ago.
Mrs. Radisson was employed by the former New England Telephone Co. in Readsboro as a switchboard operator, retiring in 1958 when direct dialing was installed. She first worked at the former Readsboro Chair Factory, then the former National Box Co. and, for 11 years, at the Readsboro post office.
She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church and, while living in Readsboro, of St. Joachim's Church.
Her husband, Nelson Radisson, whom she married in Readsboro on July 6, 1936, died in December 1984.
She leaves two sisters, Beatrice Helen Gottardi, with whom she resided, and Pauline Bombardier of Springfield, and nephews and nieces, including her caregivers, Nancy and Thomas Zappula of Cheshire, and grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by three sisters, Anna Faris, Leah Loiselle and Josephine Letourneau, and by five brothers, Charles, Joseph, Edward, William and Roger Letourneau.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mrs. Radisson will be celebrated Wednesday, April 21, at 11 at St. Joachim's Church in Readsboro by the Rev. Joseph Tate, pastor. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Readsboro.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for St. Joachim's Church or St. Mary of the Assumption Church through FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247, which is in charge of arrangements.
