Ida Pozzoni, 90
PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Ida Pozzoni, 90, of 16 South Merriam St. died Thursday, March 25, 2004, at Berkshire Medical Center.Born in Canaan, Conn., on Oct. 29, 1913, daughter of Lorenzo and Elizabetta Bianchi Balardini, she moved to Postalesio, Italy, at the age of 1 with her family and then to Sondrio, Italy, where she attended schools. She returned to the United States and Pittsfield in 1961.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Pozzoni worked part time at Joanne's Luncheonette on Elm Street for 15 years.
She was a member of the Christian Assembly Church and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and growing flowers. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Her husband, Giacomo Pozzoni, whom she married on June 11, 1938, died Sept. 29, 1985.
She leaves two daughters, Lorenza Pozzoni and her husband, Andrea, with whom she made her home, and Joanne Longton and her husband, Rudy, of Pittsfield; a son, Mario Pozzoni and his wife, Anna, of Tempe, Ariz.; a sister, Delina Sondrini of Pittsfield; a brother, Cesare Balardini and his wife, Cesarina, of Pittsfield, six grandchildren, Andy Pozzoni, Lucy Pozzoni, Christine Gunn, Lisa Pozzoni, Sylvia Hackett, Donald Wetherell, and seven great-grandchildren, Isabella and Olivia Scott, Julia, Ethan, Mia and Sophia Hackett and Brandon Elvis Pozzoni.
She was predeceased by two sisters, Lizetta Podavini and Rosa Betolatti, and her brother Angelo Balardini.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Funeral services for Mrs. Pozzoni will be Monday, March 29, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by services at 10 in the Christian Assembly Church, 850 Williams St. The Rev. Emilio Landy, pastor of Colonie Christian Life Center, will officiate. Burial will follow in the family plot at Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Christian Assembly Church in care of the funeral home.
