Peter Gomberg, 51

STOCKBRIDGE, Mass. â€' Peter Gomberg, 51, of Main Street died Monday, March 8, 2004, at Albany (N.Y.) Medical Center after a brief illness.

Born in Boston on May 19, 1952, son of Abbott Gomberg of Williamstown and the late Miriam Krasow Gomberg, he attended schools in Cincinnati and Toledo, Ohio. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati, then moved to the Berkshires. He also attended classes at Berkshire Community College, studying with artist Mark Miloff.

Mr. Gomberg pursued activities in theater, art and music. A talented pianist, he occasionally played locally and also acted in plays at the Purple Door in Stockbridge, where his performance in "Indians" was singled out by a local theater reviewer.

He exhibited his pastels in the Lenox Library's gallery. An avid fisherman, he also collected rare coins and antique bottles.

Besides his father, he leaves a sister, Lisa Szeman of Pittsfield, and his stepmother, Nada Samuels.

FUNERAL NOTICE â€' A brief graveside service for Mr. Gomberg will be held Monday, 15, at 1 at the family plot in Stockbridge Cemetery.

Those who desire may make memorial contributions to "Transitions" in care of Berkshire Mental Health Center in Pittsfield or through FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME, 426 Main St., Great Barrington, MA 01230.
