Rodney J. Ruane, 60
SHEFFIELD, Mass. — Rodney J. Ruane, 60, of 82 West Stahl Road, Ashley Falls, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2004, at home after a brief illness.Born in Pittsfield on July 28, 1943, son of Etta Peasley Ruane and the late John Ruane, he grew up in Great Barrington and was a 1961 graduate of the former Searles High School.
An Air Force veteran, he served from Aug. 15, 1962, to Aug. 12, 1966.
A self-employed painter, Mr. Ruane also purchased area homes that he renovated and sold.
He was a member of James A. Modolo Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8348 in Great Barrington and a longtime member of the Wyantenuck Country Club, where he played golf. He also was a Yankees fan.
Besides his mother, of Sheffield, he leaves his wife, the former Karen Farnum; a brother, Glen Ruane of Long Lake, N.Y.; two stepchildren, Ashley and Mitchell Tyler, both at home, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
FUNERAL NOTICE — Everyone is invited to join Rodney J. Ruane's family for a memorial celebration that will be conducted tomorrow at 4 at FINNERTY & STEVENS FUNERAL HOME in Great Barrington by the Rev. Arthur Kaufman, pastor of First Congregational Church in Sheffield.
