NORTH ADAMS, Mass. â€' Edward S. "Todd" Clairmont, 78, of 118 Bracewell Ave. died Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, at Williamstown Commons, where he was admitted Dec. 29.Born in Adams on Aug. 11, 1925, son of Edmond Clairmont and Margaret Allen Clairmont LaFountain, he attended schools in Adams and North Adams, including the former Freeman and Drury High schools.
A Navy veteran of World War II, he served as a fireman, second class.
Mr. Clairmont was employed by Rougeau Trucking Co. He also worked at the former Arnold Print Works until it closed and at the former Pfister Aluminum Co.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion and Dr. George L. Curran Post 996 VFW. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, chess and cribbage. An accomplished musician, he played the guitar, piano and violin.
He and his wife, the former Pearl Lemieux, were married May 1, 1984.
Besides his wife, he leaves four daughters, Susan Sherman and Barbara Clairmont, both of North Adams, Carol Clairmont of Colorado and Bonnie Protz of Norwalk, Conn.; three sons, Robert Clairmont of Aurora, Colo., Edward S. Clairmont Jr. of Adams and Thomas A. Clairmont of North Adams; a stepdaughter, Julia Nunez of North Adams; nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He also leaves his former wife, Gloria Coon Clairmont of North Adams
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Services for Edward S. "Todd" Clairmont Sr. will be conducted tomorrow, Jan. 13, at 2 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., by the Rev. Joseph DeCosta, pastor of First Baptist Church of North Adams.
Burial with military honors will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from noon to 2. Flowers may be sent or memorial donations are suggested for the Special Olympics through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
