Dominic A. Pisano, 72
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Dominic A. Pisano, 72, of 20 Marietta St. died Wednesday night, Nov. 12, 2003, at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield following a month of failing health.Born in North Adams on June 14, 1931, son of Alice Grennon Pisano of North Adams and the late Dominic Pisano, he attended schools in North Adams, including Drury High School.
An Army veteran, he served during the Korean War, entering the service on July 6, 1949. He served as a corporal with the 6th Army until his honorable discharge on June 18, 1952.
Mr. Pisano was employed by North Adams State College and its successor, Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, for 20 years until his retirement in 1993. He had first been employed for 18 years by the former Sprague Electric Co. and later as a custodian at St. Anthony's Church.
Following his retirement, he worked part time at Cascade Paper Co.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church and a member of Frank R. Stiles Post 125 American Legion. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather for his family.
His first wife, the former Helen Elizabeth Haltom, whom he married in Texas in 1951, died Dec. 17, 1968.
He and his wife, the former Carol Ann Marsh, were married Aug. 20, 1969, in St. Francis' Church.
Besides his mother and his wife, he leaves five daughters, Jo-Ann Crosby, Kathleen Sage and Lisa-Marie Pisano, all of North Adams, and Denise Krutiak and Susan Wood, both of Clarksburg; a son, Anthony V. "Tony" Pisano of North Adams; a sister, Genevieve Nuvallie of North Adams; a brother, Joseph A. Pisano of Bradenton, Fla., and nine grandchildren, Zachary Crosby, Sheri McKay, Katie McKay, Mackenzie Pisano, Joshua Pisano, Nathan Wood, Dominic Wood, Lindsey Sage and Courtney Sage.
Predeceased by a brother, Alphonse Pisano, in infancy.
FUNERAL NOTICE - Funeral services for Mr. Pisano will take place Saturday, Nov. 15, at 8:15 a.m. at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Marshall Street, North Adams.
Burial will follow in the family plot at Southview Cemetery, North Adams. Calling hours at the funeral home are Friday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 8. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested for the Renal Dialysis of Berkshire Medical Center, Hospice or St. Anthony Building Fund, through the funeral home.
