Joseph E. Moreau, 88
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. - Joseph Edward Moreau, 88, of 5 Navajo Drive died June 14, 2003, at Williamstown Commons.Born in Chicopee on March 27, 1915, son of Edward J. and Clemencia Menard Moreau, he came to North Adams at an early age and attended the former Notre Dame School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the infantry as a technician, fifth class, with Service Command Unit 1161. He received several campaign medals.
Mr. Moreau was employed for many years as a foreman with Cascade Paper Co., retiring in 1973. Before that, he worked for the former Brightwater Paper Co. in Adams.
He was a longtime communicant of Notre Dame Church and a member of American Legion Frank R. Stiles Post 125. He played golf and bowled and was a member of North Adams Country Club.
He and his wife, the former Rita A. Allard, celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary May 5. They were married in Notre Dame Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a brother, Harold Moreau of Williamstown, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Florence Adams.
FUNERAL NOTICE - The funeral for Mr. Moreau will be Wednesday at 10:15 at Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at Notre Dame du Sacre Coeur Church.
Burial will follow in Southview Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Tuesday from 5 to 8. Memorial donations are suggested for Notre Dame Church through the funeral home.
