Joseph L. Pikul, 93
ADAMS, Mass. â€' Joseph L. Pikul, 93, of 26 Richmond Lane died Tuesday morning, Feb. 25, 2003, at North Adams Regional Hospital.Born in Utica, N.Y., on Jan. 14, 1910, son of Lawrence and Mary Wojcik Pikul, he came to Adams with his parents at the age of 6 and attended local schools.
Mr. Pikul was employed as a supervisor for Consolidated Aluminum Co. in North Adams for 15 years, retiring in 1975. He was first employed by the former Berkshire Fine Spinning Associates, then the Adams Water Department for six years and GE in Pittsfield for several years. In his younger years, he traveled for a short time with a regional carnival company.
He was a member of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas.
He and his wife, the former Mary Gorczakowski, were married Sept. 26, 1942.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Joseph L. Pikul Jr. of Brookings, S.D., and Francis V. Pikul of West Haven, Conn.; a daughter, Judy Liebenow of Cummington; five sisters, Pauline Doyle of Sacramento, Calif., Gertrude Amuso of Pittsfield, Irene Larese and Elizabeth Sharkey, both of North Adams, and Susan Gagnon of Adams; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three brothers, Stanley Wojieck, Peter Pikul and Frank Pikul.
FUNERAL NOTICE â€' Services for Mr. Pikul will be Saturday, March 1, at 10 at TROTTIER-PRINGLE FUNERAL HOME, 6 Summer St., Adams, with the Rev. Bonaventure Moccia, CP, officiating. Burial will be in Bellevue Cemetery in Adams at the convenience of the family.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be Saturday from 9 until the time of the service.
