Donald G. MacKay, 76
NORTH ADAMS, Mass. — Donald Gordon MacKay, 76, of 138 Church St. died Saturday morning, Oct. 26, 2002, at North Adams Regional Hospital, where he was admitted Oct. 13.Born in Greenfield on Dec. 12, 1925, son of Murdock R. and Vivian H. Vickery MacKay, the family moved to Newburgh, N.Y., where he attended schools, then to North Adams, where he attended Drury High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served with the transportation detachment of the 1802 Special Regiment at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.
Mr. MacKay was employed after the war by the former James Hunter Machine Co. He retired in 1988 from the former Sprague Electric Co., where he worked in the warehouse. At the time of his death, he was employed by Landmark Credit Union.
He was a member of First Congregational Church and the Sprague Quarter Century and Retirees clubs.
He and his wife, the former Lorraine M. Marceau, were married May 28, 1955, in Notre Dame Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a sister, Gene Kelly of North Adams, and nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
FUNERAL NOTICE — A private funeral for Mr. MacKay, 76, will take place Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 11 at FLYNN & DAGNOLI-MONTAGNA HOME FOR FUNERALS, Central Chapels, 74 Marshall St., North Adams. Burial will be in Southview Cemetery, North Adams.
There will be no calling hours and omission of flowers is requested. Memorial donations suggested for the Eileen Barrett Oncology Unit of North Adams Regional Hospital or the American Heart Association through the funeral home, 74 Marshall St., North Adams, MA 01247.
