Ralph A. Sacco, 86
ADAMS, Mass. — Ralph A. Sacco, 86, of 7 Anthony St. died Wednesday morning, Jan. 10, 2001, at North Adams Regional Hospital.Born in North Adams on May 1, 1915, son of Frank and Mary Masseri Sacco, he attended North Adams schools. He moved to Adams in 1940.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served from Nov. 8, 1943, until his honorable discharge on April 13, 1946, with the rank of corporal. He served in Europe with Company A, 277th Engineer Combat Battalion, one of six Sacco brothers who served in the war.
Mr. Sacco was employed by GE in Pittsfield for 35 years as a transformer assembler. He retired in 1977. He first worked at the former Gale Shoe Co. in North Adams for four years.
He was a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame-St. Thomas, for which he was collector for 52 years and a server for 10. He was a founding member of the Notre Dame Bingo Committee, starting in 1957, and continued to work at the parish's bingo games until he became ill. He was a member of American Legion Post 160, the League of Sacred Heart and the Adams Senior Citizens, for which he was social committee chairman for 15 years.
He and his wife, the former Roma Beauchemin, celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary Aug. 17.
Besides his wife, he leaves two brothers, Pasquale Sacco and Anthony Sacco, both of North Adams; a sister, Margaret Blanquart of North Adams, 11 godchildren and nieces, nephews and grandnieces and -nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers and a sister.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The Funeral for Ralph A. Sacco will be Monday, Oct. 15, at 9 a.m. from Trottier-Pringle Funeral Home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 in Notre Dame Church in Adams by the Rev. Daniel J. Boyle, pastor. Burial will follow in Bellevue Cemetery, Adams.
